The Old Town of Ulcinj is one of the oldest settlements on the Adriatic coast and preserves traces of the many civilisations that shaped it over the centuries. Within its stone walls lie the remains of a palace, Balšić Tower, and a former slave market — a testament to a turbulent past in which enslaved people were brought from Africa and eventually became free citizens here. Narrow cobblestone streets wind through an authentic Mediterranean core full of ethno cafés and shops. Velika plaža (Great Beach) is the most famous beach in Ulcinj and one of the longest sandy beaches on the Mediterranean, stretching approximately 13 kilometres. Spacious and family-friendly, it offers excellent conditions for swimming, sailing, kayaking, and other water sports. Numerous campsites, restaurants, and equipment rental outlets are located along the beach, making it a fully equipped destination for a full day's stay. During the summer months it attracts large numbers of visitors from across the region and Europe.
Ada Bojana is a river island at the mouth of the Bojana River, a few kilometres south of Ulcinj, known for its unspoilt nature and distinctive atmosphere. The island is a popular destination for lovers of peace, nature, and fishing restaurants serving freshly prepared fish straight from the river. Ada Bojana also features beaches known for their tranquil surroundings, and part of the island is traditionally designated for nudism. Balšić Tower is one of the most recognisable historical symbols of Ulcinj, located within the walls of the Old Town. Named after the feudal Balšić family who ruled this part of the Adriatic in the Middle Ages, the tower bears witness to the strategic and military significance of Ulcinj throughout history. From its walls there are impressive views over the sea and surrounding beaches.
