MIT Fest — the Montenegrin International Theatre Festival — is the flagship stage event of Cetinje, Montenegro's royal capital, held biennially at the Royal Theatre Zetski dom. The 2024 edition ran from 15 to 21 November, with the next edition following in 2026.
The festival brings serious European theatre to the historic Zetski dom stage: the 2024 programme included the National Theatre of Timișoara performing Rodrigo García, the Kosztolányi Dezső Theatre from Subotica and German ensembles, alongside new Montenegrin drama — a pairing that puts domestic writing in direct dialogue with the European scene.
MIT Fest is more than performances: drama is joined by film, music and education programmes, making the November week a compact cultural season in the old capital. Seeing an international production inside the intimate historic Zetski dom, a few steps from Cetinje's palaces and museums, is an experience with real atmosphere.
Tickets are modestly priced, in keeping with the festival's mission of accessibility.
