Dani Pivskog jezera — Piva Lake Days — is Plužine's three-day festival on the emerald waters of Piva Lake, held on the last weekend of June. Launched in 2023 (the 2024 edition ran 28–30 June), it celebrates the lake that defines the town: the largest drinking-water reservoir in the Balkans, filling a flooded canyon beneath steep forested walls.
Piva Lake is among the most startling sights in Montenegro: a drowned canyon whose still surface holds an improbable emerald green, hemmed in by cliffs and forest, with Plužine perched above its shore. For most of the year it is profoundly quiet — which is exactly what makes a festival on its waters feel like an occasion.
The programme lives on the water. A fishing school and competition put rods in hands of all ages, while a kayak school and guided rides let visitors paddle the still, deep-green lake. On land, the Plužine–Vrbnica cycling tour rolls out along the lakeshore roads, and a beach party keeps the town beach busy between activities.
Evenings belong to the "Pivska priča" — the Piva Story — concert in the lakeside amphitheater; the 2024 edition starred Dženan Lončarević. Music drifting over the water from an amphitheater above the lake makes a memorable close to each day.
Practical pleasures round out the weekend: the water is famously clean, the town beach doubles as the social hub, and the mountain roads above the lake serve up canyon views between programme items. Late June catches the Piva region at its greenest, before the deep summer heat settles into the valley.
Everything, from the schools and rides to the concerts, is free. The festival is centred on Plužine's town beach and amphitheater over the last June weekend — the perfect excuse to discover one of Montenegro's least-known blue-green corners.
