The Beekeeping Fair (Sajam pčelarstva) is a Podgorica tradition roughly three decades old, held for three days in mid-October — the 2024 edition ran from 17 to 19 October — on Trg nezavisnosti, the capital's central square.
Around twenty stands gather beekeepers from Montenegro, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, offering honey in all its regional varieties alongside mead, propolis and other hive products. Free tastings are the heart of the experience: visitors move from stand to stand comparing honeys and talking directly with the people who produce them.
The fair is organised by the Beekeepers' Association and the Beekeeping Union with support from the Ministry of Agriculture, and it doubles as the annual meeting point of the region's beekeeping community — equal parts market, tasting event and trade gathering. October in Podgorica is mild, and the square hums with an easy autumn-market atmosphere.
Entry is free, and the fair is an ideal stop for edible souvenirs straight from the producer.
