Barski ljetopis — the Bar Summer Festival — is the cultural chronicle of Bar's summer, running for nearly four decades; the 38th edition spanned 5 July to 27 August 2024, with the 2025 edition starting from 15 July. Its stages are the town's most evocative spaces: Old Town Bar, the park of King Nikola's Palace, and the Cultural Centre.
The programme moves across genres over its two-month run: theatre openers of real weight (2024 opened with "Mamma Mia" by Belgrade's Theatre on Terazije), concerts such as the Barcelona Gipsy balKan Orchestra, and exhibitions in the "Velimir A. Leković" gallery. A dedicated segment called "bARS" showcases local artists, keeping the festival rooted in its own town.
Most events happen open-air under the stars, whether among the old walls of Stari Bar or in the seaside palace park — settings that are themselves half the performance.
Ticketing is mixed, with some events charged and others free. The full programme is published at barskiljetopis.me — worth checking whichever July or August week you find yourself in Bar.
