Cetinje Outdoor — Lovćen Trail

Lovćen Trail is Montenegro's mountain-running and outdoor festival in Lovćen National Park, based at Ivanova Korita below the country's most symbolic peak. The race itself has a history stretching back nearly a decade, and in 2025 it grew into a full outdoor festival built around an ITRA-certified flagship race.

The flagship is the "Five Lovćen Peaks" course — 34.5 km with 1,812 m of climbing, ITRA-certified — linking the massif's summits in a single loop. It is a serious mountain test, the kind of course that rewards patient pacing and repays every climb with long ridgeline views before dropping back towards the base camp.

Around it, the festival offers something for every level: Panoramic and Ethno trails for runners and hikers, a bike trail, guided hikes and a via ferrata. That breadth is deliberate. A family can walk a gentler trail in the morning while the racers are still out on the massif, cyclists and hikers pick their own pace, and everyone regroups at the base camp afterwards.

Between starts, Ivanova Korita hosts music and gastronomy, turning race weekend into a mountain celebration — recent editions have drawn more than 500 participants and visitors. The base camp keeps a relaxed rhythm: finishers trade stories, hikers drift back in, and the food and music carry the afternoon on into the evening.

Late May is Lovćen at its best — green meadows, long views and cool air at altitude. The national park rises above Cetinje, the old royal capital, so a festival visit pairs naturally with a wander through the town's museums and low stone houses on the way up or down, and the fresh mountain air makes the timing ideal for anyone who wants to be outdoors all day.

The festival is held annually; the coming edition runs on 29 and 30 May at Ivanova Korita in Lovćen National Park. Entry fees range from 10 to 40 EUR depending on the course, while spectating and the festival atmosphere are open to all.
