Čorbijada is Nikšić's fish-soup cook-off, held since 2023 on the shore of Slano jezero, the lake just outside the city. The 3rd edition took place on 13 September 2025, within the city's month-long Septembarski dani celebrations.
Teams arrive with their own cauldrons and simmer riblja čorba — fish soup built on carp, pike and trout — over open fires along the lakeshore. The contest has quickly gone regional: the 2024 edition drew 36 teams, including crews from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Croatia. A jury tastes its way through the cauldrons and crowns the winners.
Around the competition unfolds a full family day at the lake: music, food and an easygoing shoreline crowd, with the Nikšić hills as a backdrop. The smell of woodsmoke over the water is the event's real signature.
Team entry costs around 30 EUR, while visiting — and hovering hopefully near the cauldrons — is free.
