Blueberry Days (Dani borovnice)
Dani borovnice — Blueberry Days — is Plav's summer festival dedicated to the wild blueberry that grows across the slopes of the Prokletije mountains. The 2026 edition, the twenty-sixth, runs for more than three weeks, from 12 July to 4 August, centred on Plav's town square (Gradski trg), Lake Plav and Prokletije National Park.
The core of the festival is an agriculture fair of blueberry products, honey and handicrafts — the 2025 fair drew more than 2,000 visitors — alongside organized blueberry-picking trips into the national park. Evenings bring folklore performances, ethno evenings and concerts by regional performers, and the festival traditionally closes with the crowning of Miss Blueberry.
A busy sports programme uses the setting to the full: mountain hikes and races in Prokletije, boat outings on Lake Plav, and boxing and football exhibitions in town. It is one of the best excuses to visit Montenegro's far north-east at the height of the mountain summer.
The festival runs 12 July – 4 August 2026 and is free to attend; the programme is published at daniborovnice.me.
