Ideal season: May, June, September
Overview

Drobni Pijesak is a beach set in a secluded cove between Sveti Stefan and Reževići, stretching approximately 250 metres. Despite its name suggesting fine sand, the beach is largely composed of rounded pebbles and small stones of yellow-white hue, with occasional natural shallow pools that are especially appealing to families with children. The beach is reached via a path from the main road, and the steep descent to the sea offers panoramic views of the coastline. On the beach you will find a restaurant, a beach bar and a fresh drinking water source, while the crystal-clear sea provides excellent conditions for swimming and snorkelling.

The cove and rounded pebbles

Drobni Pijesak beach is set in a secluded cove approximately 250 metres long, surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation — olive groves and maquis. Despite its name, the beach is characterised by rounded pebbles and small stones of yellow-white colour, which, together with the clear sea, give the impression of a tropical cove. Natural pools sometimes form in the shallows, making them especially appealing to families with young children. The rocky edges on both sides of the cove provide shelter from the wind and are ideal for exploring the seabed.

Crystal-clear sea and snorkelling

The sea in the Drobni Pijesak cove ranks among the clearest on the Montenegrin coast — underwater visibility can reach up to 20–30 metres. The rocky edges of the cove are rich in fish and marine life, making them natural snorkelling grounds accessible without any special equipment. The Pura Vida Beach Bar at the centre of the beach and the restaurant Smokov Vijenac on the rocky headland at the right side of the cove allow for a complete day by the water. The clarity of the sea is most pronounced in the morning, before the daytime visitors arrive.

Paštrovska Bankada — a historic assembly site

Drobni Pijesak is not only a natural beauty — in the past, the Paštrovska Bankada was held here, a gathering of the tribal chieftains of the Paštrovići. At this assembly, which took place directly beside the sea, the most important decisions were made for the entire Paštrovići region between Budva and Bar. The tradition of the Paštrovići as one of the most organised Montenegrin tribes is also reflected in the well-preserved churches and monasteries in the immediate hinterland — the monastery of Praskvica lies just a few kilometres north of the beach.

Panoramic path down to the beach

From the Budva–Petrovac main road, a steep path approximately 300–400 metres long leads down to the beach, with an elevation difference of around 40 metres. The walking section offers panoramic views of the Budva Riviera, framed by distinctive rocky outcrops and Mediterranean vegetation. The path itself is one of the reasons this beach remains less accessible to mass tourism — which makes it a quieter alternative to neighbouring beaches. Arriving by kayak or boat from the sea is particularly recommended as an experience in its own right.
