Manastir Savina

Manastir Savina lies 0.77 km from Meljine Beach, set within the dense Mediterranean woodland of Savinska Dubrava park. The complex comprises three churches — two churches of the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God and the Church of St. Sava on the hillside — along with the monastic residence housing a museum and treasury. The treasury holds precious goldsmith works from the Nemanjić era, including the crystal cross of St. Sava from the 13th century. The miraculous icon of the Savinska Mother of God is one of the most sacred relics in Boka. The director Emir Kusturica was baptised in this church.

Lazaret Meljine

The Lazaret in Meljine, built in 1732, is the most significant historic structure in the settlement and a cultural and historical asset of particular regional importance. The Venetians originally built it as a defensive installation, and it was subsequently used as a military hospital for several centuries in succession. The same hewn stone used for the nearby church of Manastir Savina was used in its construction. The microclimate of this location has always been known for its therapeutic qualities, which provided the rationale for siting a medical institution here.

Pet Danica Promenade

The Pet Danica promenade is a 6 km long coastal walkway connecting Meljine with Herceg Novi and Igalo, following the route of a former narrow-gauge railway. Restaurants, cafés, small beaches and parks with Mediterranean greenery line the shore. The promenade is named in honour of five fighters named Danica who perished in the Second World War. Thanks to the greenery on one side and the sea on the other, local residents also call it the 'health path' — it is an integral part of the therapy programmes for patients at the Military Hospital in Meljine and the Institute in Igalo.

Savinska Dubrava Park

Savinska Dubrava park extends in a west–east direction, directly connecting Meljine with Herceg Novi. Forest trails wind along a limestone ridge through oleanders, pittosporums, pines, cypresses, oaks and chestnuts, leading to viewpoints — belvederes with views across the entire Bay of Kotor. The park is home to Manastir Savina, the Church of St. Ana and a memorial to patriots executed during the First World War. The park forms part of the rich Mediterranean flora characteristic of the entire municipality of Herceg Novi, which is home to more than 250 species of exotic plants.
