Miločer Beach

The King's Beach on the Budva Riviera, former summer retreat of the Karađorđević dynasty

Swimming Season: May — October
Overview

Miločer Beach, also known as King's Beach, is located approximately 6 km south of Budva, in a tranquil cove between the village of Pržno and the island of Sveti Stefan. Surrounded by a park rich with exotic cedars, pines, and olive trees, this beach has long been considered one of the most exclusive on the entire Adriatic. Directly above the beach stands Villa Miločer, a stone residence completed in 1936 as the summer retreat of the Yugoslav royal family Karađorđević. The sea here is clear and calm, and the beach offers a direct view of the Sveti Stefan peninsula — one of the most photographed locations in Montenegro.

Miločer Beach (King's Beach)

Miločer Beach, also known as King's Beach, takes its name from Yugoslav King Aleksandar Karađorđević, who chose this cove as his summer residence. The pebble shore, approximately 300 metres long, sits in a protected cove with calm, clear water and a gradual entry suitable for all ages. Surrounded by dense Mediterranean vegetation — cedars, pines, and olive trees — the beach offers a direct view of the Sveti Stefan peninsula, one of the most photographed locations in Montenegro. Due to its setting and exclusivity, it ranks among the highest-category beaches on the Adriatic.

Villa Miločer and Miločer Park

Villa Miločer is a stone royal residence completed in 1936 as the summer retreat of Yugoslav King Aleksandar Karađorđević, who was assassinated in Marseille in 1934 and never lived to see its opening. The retreat was subsequently used by his wife, Queen Marija, after whom the nearby Queen's Beach is named. The building stands above the beach, surrounded by a park planted by the royal family themselves — exotic cedars, pines, and Mediterranean shrubs that have grown over the decades into a lush green oasis. The park is open for public strolls along the coastal path that runs alongside the villa itself.

Queen's Beach (Queen's Cove)

Queen's Beach is tucked into a quiet cove approximately 5 minutes along the coastal path north of Miločer. It is named after Queen Marija Karađorđević, who, according to historical sources, considered it her favourite beach during her summer stays in the 1930s. The beach, 120 metres long, is almost always in the shade of cypress and olive trees, giving it a private atmosphere rare on the Montenegrin coast. The pebbles are fine, the sea is clear, and there are no noisy amenities nearby — ideal for visitors seeking peace and an escape from the crowds.

Coastal Path Sveti Stefan — Miločer — Pržno

The walking path connecting Sveti Stefan, Miločer, and Pržno passes through one of the most beautiful parks on the Montenegrin coast. The stretch from Sveti Stefan to Miločer takes approximately 10 minutes on foot through a dense park of cedar and pine trees along the very edge of the shoreline. Continuing on to Pržno takes a further 8 minutes. This is one of the few coastal walking paths in the region that runs directly along the sea through a wooded park, free of traffic and crowds, with panoramic views over the coves and the Sveti Stefan peninsula.
