The Bay of Kotor

Orahovac sits on the shore of Boka Kotorska, the only fjord-type bay on the Adriatic, protected by UNESCO as part of a unique natural and cultural landscape. Mountain ranges that drop steeply towards the sea create a dramatic backdrop for a beach holiday. The enclosed bay ensures calm, warm water throughout the entire summer season — ideal for swimming and water activities. From Orahovac Beach, views stretch across to the opposite shore and the slopes of Mount Lovćen.

Kotor Old Town

Just 5–10 minutes' drive from Orahovac lies Kotor, one of the best-preserved medieval towns on the Mediterranean and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The old town is encircled by fortification walls stretching 4.5 km, largely built under Venetian rule between the 13th and 18th centuries. Inside stands the cathedral of St. Tryphon, dating from 1166, the Piazza delle Armi, and a network of narrow cobblestone streets. The climb to the fortress of St. John at 280 metres above sea level rewards visitors with a panoramic view over the entire bay.

Our Lady of the Rocks Island

One of the most celebrated sites in the entire Bay of Kotor, the island of Gospa od Škrpjela is accessible by boat from Perast, approximately 15 minutes' drive from Orahovac. This is the only artificially constructed island on the Adriatic — built from the 15th century onwards by the deliberate sinking of rocks and ships. The island is home to a church rich in votive paintings and more than 2,500 silver plaques left by sailors in gratitude. The interior of the church is adorned with 68 oil paintings by the 17th-century Kotor painter Tripo Kokolja.

Perast — A Baroque Town on the Shore

Perast is a small town on the shore of the Bay of Kotor, approximately 15 kilometres from Orahovac, home to just a few hundred residents yet possessing impressive baroque architecture with 16 churches and 17 palaces from the era of Venetian rule. The town is entirely pedestrianised and is one of the most photographed places in Montenegro. Strolling along the waterfront towards Bujović Palace and taking in the view of the two islands before the town — Gospa od Škrpjela and Sv. Đorđa — rank among the most memorable experiences in the entire region.
