Ženska plaža — the sulphur cove

Nestled in a cove within Pinješ pine forest is Ženska plaža, one of the rare examples of sulphur-mineral thermal springs on the Adriatic coast. Situated between the former Hotel Albatros and the former Hotel Galeb, this narrow pine-fringed cove is known for its emerald-green water, which is warmed by underground springs. The healing properties of the water have been scientifically studied for over eight decades, and both local tradition and medical practice recommend bathing in these waters for their therapeutic effects on skin and joints. The cove is calm and partially sheltered from the wind, making it pleasant even on windier days.

Walking trail through the pine forest

The promenade running through Pinješ pine forest is one of the most pleasant walks on the Ulcinj riviera. The trail stretches from Mala plaža in the north to Port Milena in the south, along the very shoreline, offering occasional views of rocky coves and the open sea. The pine forest reaching down to the water provides natural shade during summer days, making this walk appealing even at midday. Benches are dotted along the route, and the restaurant Sapore di Mare sits on the rocky reef alongside it. The route is flat, suitable for all ages, and approximately 2 km in one direction.

Restaurant Sapore di Mare

Sapore di Mare is the sixth beach and its namesake restaurant on the route from Ulcinj's centre towards Pinješ, positioned at the very tip of a rocky reef. What makes this spot special is its geographical position: on a rocky point above the sea where a breeze always blows, making the subjective temperature feel lower than at surrounding beaches. The restaurant operates seasonally and serves seafood specialities and grilled dishes alongside sun loungers and parasols. The beach stretches approximately 150 metres, and the presence of a restaurant directly on the rocky reef makes it attractive even for visitors who come purely for the food.

Rocky coves of Pinješ

Between the pine coastal strip and the sea in Pinješ lies a series of smaller rocky coves with crystal-clear water, far less visited than Mala plaža and Velika plaža. The rocky seabed and water clarity make these coves well suited for snorkelling — with careful observation it is possible to spot octopuses and other marine fauna. Unlike sandy beaches, this stretch of coastline maintains high water transparency even at the peak of the tourist season. The coves are accessible on foot via the walking trail through Pinješ pine forest and have no organised facilities, making them attractive for guests seeking peace and a natural setting.
