Rocky beach on Cape Platamuni, 7 km from Budva
Ploče Beach is an unusual complex on the rocky Cape Platamuni, approximately 7 km from the centre of Budva. Covering 10,000 m², it is built directly into the cliffs — instead of sand, visitors are welcomed by terraced stone decks, small pebbly areas, and four saltwater pools. The beach stands out as the most popular spot in Budva for beach parties: foam parties and daytime events with DJ performances are organised daily. Alongside the parties, Ploče offers diving in exceptionally clear deep water, jet-ski and boat rentals, and peaceful sunbathing terraces around the edges of the complex. It is accessible by paved road and summer bus lines from Budva.

Highlights

The centrepiece of Ploče Beach is its four saltwater pools and a multi-level system of stone terraces and decks built directly into the cliffs of Cape Platamuni. Visitors can choose between a shallower pool for children, an adult pool, and direct entry into the open sea via metal ladders fixed to the rock. The terraces are equipped with sunbeds and parasols for hire (~€15 per day), and each level offers a different view of the open sea. This architectural layout allows quieter guests to settle on the peripheral terraces, well away from the central DJ stages.

The sea in front of Ploče ranks among the clearest on the entire Budva Riviera — underwater visibility extends tens of metres thanks to open-sea currents. The seabed in front of Cape Platamuni was once a military firing range and is now covered with diverse marine life. There are six marked dive sites: Mravinjak, Mina, Vlajkove rupe, Kaskade, Amforište and Uškice. Diving camps organise group and individual dives from mid-June to the end of August, and the beach is also popular for freediving courses.

By hiring a jet-ski or taking a water taxi, it is possible to experience Cape Platamuni from a sea-level perspective — a view few tourists ever see. Above the cliffs overlooking the beach stands the Church of St. Andrew the Apostle and the visible Platamuni Lighthouse, which appear from the sea as dramatic white accents against the limestone rock. The ride along the coastline reveals deep blue coves and inaccessible sections of cliff that can only be reached from the water. This is one of the rare locations on the Budva Riviera where the mountains drop directly into the open Adriatic Sea.
