Polo in the Port

Polo in the Port brings a sport rarely seen in Montenegro to the Boka: the Porto Montenegro Polo Cup takes place in Tivat from 11 to 13 August 2026, according to tivat.travel.

Porto Montenegro has built its reputation on exactly this kind of occasion. The marina village on Tivat's waterfront — quays of superyachts, boutiques and café terraces — hosts a summer calendar of polished events, and the polo cup is among its most distinctive: an equestrian sport staged in the country's most manicured setting.

The event opens with a horse parade through Porto Montenegro itself — riders and horses passing through the marina village, between the boutiques and the berths — before the action moves to the PM Arena for two days of polo matches. Around the sport runs a glamour side programme in keeping with the setting.

Horses parading past the berths of a superyacht marina is not a sight the Adriatic offers often, and that contrast is the event's charm: equestrian tradition dropped into Montenegro's most polished resort. Even for spectators who have never watched polo before, the spectacle carries itself — the parade, the horses, the arena and the marina crowd.

For visitors staying anywhere on the Boka in mid-August, it slots easily into a day: the parade on the opening day, then matches at the PM Arena on the two days that follow, with the marina promenade filling the time in between. Unusually for an event of this style, watching costs nothing — the parade and the matches are open to spectators for free, which makes it one of the most accessible tastes of the marina village's summer scene.
