Ostrog Monastery

Ostrog Monastery is one of the greatest sanctuaries in the Balkans, carved directly into the rock face of a mountain within the municipality of Danilovgrad. It is dedicated to Saint Basil of Ostrog, and each year it draws hundreds of thousands of pilgrims of all faiths from around the world. The monastery consists of an upper and a lower section, and the walk through the forest to the upper monastery takes about 20 minutes. This is a spiritual destination that leaves a profound impression on every visitor, regardless of their religious beliefs.
