Dani nezavisne scene (Days of the Independent Scene) is the only festival in Montenegro devoted to non-institutional, independent theatre. It is hosted by the Royal Theatre Zetski dom in Cetinje — the 2024 edition ran a full month, 2 to 30 March, with around twenty productions, and the next edition follows in September 2026.
The festival gathers NGO and independent troupes from five countries, showcasing the theatre that happens outside national institutions: experimental formats, small ensembles and contemporary titles of the "White Rabbit Red Rabbit" kind that rarely reach mainstream stages in the region.
For audiences, it is a rare concentrated look at the region's freest theatrical energy, staged in the intimate halls of Montenegro's most storied theatre building. The independent scene works with minimal resources and maximal invention, and the festival's programming celebrates precisely that resourcefulness.
Prices reflect the scene's ethos: around 3 EUR per show, or a 20 EUR pass for the whole festival.
