Every year from 15 to 20 August, Herceg Novi hosts the Guitar Art Summer Fest — the seaside summer edition of Belgrade's renowned Guitar Art Festival, one of the most respected classical guitar events in this part of Europe.
The festival brings world-class classical guitarists to the coast for a week of night open-air concerts, where virtuoso playing meets the soft acoustics of warm August evenings. For guitar lovers it is a rare chance to hear performers of this calibre in an intimate, holiday-town setting rather than a formal concert hall.
Days are as busy as nights: masterclasses and workshops let students work directly with the visiting artists, while luthier exhibitions display the craft behind the instrument — handmade guitars you can examine up close and discuss with their makers.
Access is mixed, with some events free and others ticketed. Mid-August is peak season in Herceg Novi, so the festival folds neatly into a beach holiday: swim by day, study or browse the luthiers in the afternoon, concert under the stars at night.
