Kolašin opens Montenegro's ski winter each mid-December with a three-day celebration shared between the town and the mountain — last season (2025/26) kicked off on 12–14 December. The programme links Trg boraca, the main town square, with the Kolašin 1600 ski centre on Bjelasica.
Kolašin is Montenegro's ski capital — a compact mountain town on the road north from Podgorica, sitting below the slopes of Bjelasica. The opening weekend catches it at the moment it switches identities: summer hiking base becomes winter resort, and the town celebrates the change with a programme split between the square and the slopes.
In town, the square hosts a winter bazaar and live music — last season's opening featured Petar Bulatović and Srećko Savović — while the mountain gets a dedicated Kids' Day at Kolašin 1600 and the weekend closes with a DJ party on the slopes.
The occasion matters because of what it opens: Kolašin 1450 and Kolašin 1600 together form Montenegro's largest connected ski area, with around 45 kilometres of runs on Bjelasica reaching roughly 1,973 metres. The adult day pass cost €25 in the 2025/26 season — marketed as the cheapest skiing in Europe — and snowmaking keeps the season running from mid-December to mid-April.
For visitors, the weekend is the most sociable moment of the Kolašin winter: bazaar stalls and concerts in town for non-skiers, a Kids' Day for families on the mountain, and the season's first party on the snow. It is equal parts town festival and resort launch.
The opening weekend is held in mid-December in Kolašin, linking Trg boraca with the Kolašin 1600 centre. Entry to the bazaar, concerts and parties is free; skiing is charged per the resort price list at skijalista.me.
