The Winter Bazaar in Tuzi (Zimski bazar) is the young municipality's holiday market, held from late December into early January on Skanderbeg Square, the town's central plaza. The 2024/25 season confirmed it as Tuzi's signature winter gathering.
Tuzi sits on the plain of Malesija near Lake Skadar, a short drive from Podgorica, and in the Christmas season its compact centre takes on the glow that small towns do best: lights over the square, wooden chalets steaming in the cold, and neighbours meeting night after night in the same few festive streets.
Wooden chalets fill the square with local food and handmade crafts — the produce and flavours of the area around Tuzi — while nightly concerts keep the square warm with music through the holiday weeks. The season peaks with the New Year countdown, when the whole town gathers on the square to welcome midnight together.
Tuzi is one of Montenegro's newest municipalities, and the bazaar has quickly become the place where its community spirit is most visible: multigenerational and welcoming. For visitors, it pairs naturally with Podgorica's own New Year market, a short drive away, offering a smaller and more local counterpoint.
The best time to come is the evening, when the concerts begin and the chalets are at their busiest. An hour or two is enough to browse the crafts, eat something local and catch the music, though the atmosphere makes it easy to linger — especially as the New Year countdown approaches and the square grows fuller by the night.
The bazaar runs annually from 20 December to 5 January on Skanderbeg Square in Tuzi. Entry, the concerts and the countdown celebration are all free of charge, which keeps the whole season within reach of every family in town and makes it an effortless add-on for anyone spending the holidays around Podgorica.
