Autumn Folklore Festival

The Festival of Folk Dance and Singing is Herceg Novi's autumn folklore gathering, confirmed by the organizers (OFFHN) for 29 October to 2 November 2026.

Late autumn is Herceg Novi's quietest season. The summer crowds are months gone, the promenade belongs to locals, and the town — stairways, gardens and seafront in the soft light of early November — settles into its off-season self. It is the season the town keeps for itself, and into that stillness the festival brings five days of costume, song and dance.

Over five days, amateur folk ensembles, vocal groups and majorettes from around the region perform across the town. Unlike a showcase built for tourists, this is a festival with a participant character: the ensembles come to perform for and with each other, and the town becomes their shared stage — squares, halls and the waterfront hosting one group after another.

That character is precisely its appeal. The performers are people who do it for love rather than profession — communities keeping their own traditions — and the encounters between ensembles are as much the point as the performances themselves. Visitors who happen upon it get folklore at its most genuine, not a staged spectacle with a ticket booth.

For travellers, it is one of the best reasons to see the Boka out of season: the town is unhurried, the coast is calm, and for these few days Herceg Novi's venues fill with music that would otherwise only be heard at village celebrations across the region.

The festival runs 29 October – 2 November 2026 at venues across Herceg Novi, with the dates confirmed by the organizers (OFFHN). All performances are free, and visitors can simply follow the music from venue to venue.
