Berane Cultural Summer

The programme spans the whole cultural spectrum: concerts take over the town square, theatre performances and literary evenings fill indoor venues, sports events keep the days active, and a dedicated children's programme makes sure the youngest have their own slice of the summer. Few evenings pass without something happening somewhere in town.

The atmosphere is that of a town living outdoors: on warm evenings the square becomes Berane's shared living room, with locals of all generations drifting between events. For travellers exploring Montenegro's northeast — the Lim valley, Bjelasica and the routes toward Prokletije — the festival is the simplest way to catch the region's social pulse.

There is no wrong way to attend: pick an evening, follow the sound to the square, and take the programme as it comes. For families the children's events are a reliable anchor, while the literary and theatre evenings offer a quieter register once the open-air concerts wind down.

Everything is free of charge. The festival runs from the start of July into early August across Berane's square and town venues; whatever evening you arrive, there is a good chance something is on.
