Rožaje Cultural Summer

Rožajsko kulturno ljeto — Rožaje Cultural Summer — is the umbrella programme that carries this far-eastern Montenegrin town through July and August. Set in the forested Ibar valley beneath the Hajla massif, Rožaje uses the two summer months to string together a near-continuous run of cultural evenings.

Rožaje wears its setting well: the young Ibar river runs through the town centre, wooded slopes press close on every side, and Hajla's long ridge closes the horizon. The town's distinct cultural traditions give the summer programme a flavour of its own within Montenegro's north.

The programme moves between the open air and indoor venues: concerts take over the town square on warm nights, theatre nights bring touring and local productions to the stage, and exhibitions and book promotions fill the calendar between them.
