Vezir Bridge Diving (Skokovi sa Vezirovog mosta)

High diving returned to Podgorica on 19 July 2025, when the traditional competition of jumps from Vezirov most (the Vizier's Bridge) into the Morača river was relaunched after a break of more than fifteen years. The bridge deck stands 23 metres above the water — the highest competitive diving platform in the region. Podgorica sits on the plain where rivers meet, and the Morača runs through its very centre in a deep green channel, turning the bridge into a natural arena with grandstands built in.

Organised by the diving club "Vezir" together with the City Sports Secretariat, the relaunched event brought international judges to the riverside and a guest appearance by Lorens Listo, the multiple champion of the legendary Mostar bridge jumps. The 2026 edition, on 18 July, stars Orlando Duque — the Red Bull cliff-diving legend — alongside top divers Karničnik and Krnić, while a Youth Cup final gives young divers their own stage.

The spectacle is pure summer drama: divers stepping off a city bridge, seconds of flight, and the green Morača below, with crowds lining the banks and the bridge itself. Every jump follows the same tense rhythm — the hush as a diver settles on the edge, the fall, the held breath, and the roar that greets a clean entry. Between rounds the riverside settles into the easy hum of a midsummer crowd out to enjoy the show.

It revives a beloved local tradition and ties Podgorica into the Balkan family of bridge-diving cities. For older locals the jumps are a memory brought back to life; for the young divers contesting the Youth Cup final, they are a tradition being handed on in real time. Few sporting events say as much about a city's relationship with its river.
