Berane Trči (Berane Runs)

Berane Trči — Berane Runs — is the town's new running weekend, and its debut made history: the first edition on 2 and 3 August 2025 staged the first half marathon ever held in Berane, drawing 316 runners from seven countries onto the streets. On the strength of that turnout, organizers immediately announced it as an annual event.

Road racing arrived late to the Lim valley, which is part of the event's charm: Berane's flat riverside streets turn out to suit fast times, and the town greeted its first half marathon with the enthusiasm of a place that had been waiting for one. The course threads the compact centre, so the crowd is never far from the runners.

The programme is built around three distances. The half marathon — 21.1 kilometres through the town's streets — is the headline race for serious road runners. A 5-kilometre race opens the field to recreational runners, and a 2.5-kilometre run invites beginners, families and anyone who simply wants to be part of the day.

Street races transform a town in a way stadium events cannot: streets close, neighbours line the pavements, and the finish area turns into a small festival. For a town of Berane's size, an international field of over three hundred runners at the very first edition suggests the event has found its audience quickly.

The early-August date places the race at the heart of the northeast's summer, and visiting runners can fold it into a broader trip — Bjelasica's trails, the sights of the Lim valley and the roads toward the Prokletije all begin within easy reach of the start line.

The running weekend is held in early August. Entry fees apply per distance, with the shorter races kept accessible for casual participants; spectating along the course is naturally free.
