Bar sits on the open southern Adriatic, giving it a hot, sunny Mediterranean climate. July highs reach around 32°C, among the warmest on the coast, while the sea climbs from 23°C in June to a peak of 26°C in August. Summer days are long and bright, with close to 14 hours of sun.
Facing the open sea, Bar is a little drier and sunnier in summer than the enclosed Boka bay to the north. Winters are mild, with January highs near 12°C, though November and December are wet, with around 13–16 rainy days.

For beach days, visit between June and September, when the sea holds 23–26°C and sunshine is plentiful. July and August are hottest and busiest, while June and September offer the same warm water more calmly. Spring and autumn suit exploring the old town and olive groves, with warm days and cooler evenings.
Bring swimwear, sunglasses and strong sun cream for the hot summer, plus light clothing for the heat. A light layer suits spring and autumn evenings, while winter needs a warm jacket and umbrella for the rainier months.
