Ulcinj is Montenegro's southernmost town and one of its sunniest and driest, a genuinely Mediterranean corner near the Albanian border. July highs reach around 31°C, with only two rainy days that month, and the long sandy Velika Plaža catches sea breezes. The water warms to a peak of 26°C in August.
Sunshine is exceptional, close to 14 hours a day in July, and the swimming season is long. Winters are mild, with January highs near 11°C, and even the cool season keeps more bright, dry days than the coast further north.

Beach and swimming weather runs from June to September, when the sea sits between 23°C and 26°C beneath near-constant sun. July and August are hottest and driest, ideal for the long sandy beaches, while June and September stay warm and quieter. Spring and autumn are pleasant for exploring the old town and salt flats.
Pack swimwear, a sun hat and high-factor sun cream for the intense southern sun, plus light, airy clothing. Bring a light layer for spring and autumn evenings, and a warm jacket with an umbrella for the mild, wetter winter.
