Highlights

The Bar promenade, which runs alongside Topolica Beach, leads to Bar Marina and King Nikola's Palace, built in 1885 right on the seafront. A stroll along the promenade — just a ten-minute walk — offers a glimpse into daily life on the Bar Riviera, with cafés, restaurants, and views across the Adriatic Sea. The marina is the departure point for boat excursions to nearby beaches and coves along the Bar Riviera.

A palace built in 1885 on the seafront in the centre of Bar, today a museum preserving the personal collection and furnishings of King Nikola Petrović. Its proximity to Topolica Beach — just a few minutes' walk — makes a visit to the palace an easy addition to a day at the beach. The palace's winter garden houses the Knjaževa Bašta restaurant, well known for its local cuisine and wine.

The Stari Bar fortress lies approximately 4 km from the city centre, at the foot of Mount Rumija, and is one of the most significant historical sites on the Montenegrin coast. Within its walls stand the remains of the 11th-century Romanesque-Gothic Cathedral of St George, two Gothic churches, a gunpowder magazine, and an Ottoman-era hammam. In the nearby village of Mirovica grows an olive tree estimated to be around 2,000 years old — one of the oldest olive trees in the Mediterranean.

Crvena Stijena beach lies behind the Volujica hill near Bar and is considered one of the most beautiful hidden beaches on the Montenegrin coast. It is best reached by boat, as the overland route is demanding, and the beach itself benefits from natural shade provided by the rocky cliffs. Large crowds are rarely found here — usually only divers or small picnic groups — making it ideal for a peaceful retreat far from the city beach.
