Highlights

Utjeha bears the local name Uvala maslina (Olive Bay) because of the ancient olive groves that surround the cove on all sides and provide natural shade. The cove is sheltered from the wind, ensuring calm sea conditions suitable for swimming and relaxation. Surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation — olive trees, pines and maquis — this beach offers an authentic atmosphere typical of the Montenegrin coast. Unlike the town beaches in Bar or Sutomore, Utjeha offers a more natural and tranquil setting, especially in the morning hours and outside the peak season.

Ratac is a beach on the headland of the same name located between Sutomore and Bar, divided into two smaller sections. The headland is covered by a pine forest that separates the beach from the main road and provides natural shade. Ratac is reportedly also designated as a nudist beach, making it one of the few such spots on the Bar Riviera. Access is possible on foot through the pine forest, and the location is less well known than the neighbouring Bar beaches, so crowds are rare.

The wider area around Utjeha forms part of the Bar Riviera, which encompasses a series of beaches between Bar to the south and Sutomore to the north. Alongside Utjeha, this stretch features the beaches of Topolica, Pješačac, Žukotrlica, Maljevik, Štrbine and Ratac, each with a distinct character — ranging from town beaches to more secluded coves. This variety along a relatively short stretch of coastline makes the area well suited for exploring several beaches in a single day. Sutomore is particularly well known as a seaside resort with a long tradition on the Montenegrin coast.
What to do

The clean and calm sea in the sheltered cove is ideal for a relaxed swim.

Clear water and a rocky seabed along the edges of the cove offer an interesting underwater experience.

The surrounding coves and coastline are accessible by kayak for active visitors.

Local fishermen and visitors practise fishing from the shore and from boats in the cove.
