Lučice Beach

A pebble cove 500 metres south of Petrovac

Season: May — October
Overview

Lučice is a smaller pebble cove located just 500 metres south of Petrovac, separated from the town beach by a wooded headland. The bay is surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation — cypress and pine forests — giving it a more intimate and tranquil character than the neighbouring town beach. The water is clear, and from the cove there are views of the Venetian fortress above the Petrovac shoreline. The beach is particularly popular with couples and smaller groups looking for a more discreet setting without excessive commercialisation.

The Lučice pebble cove

The Lučice cove lies between two headlands covered in cypress and pine trees, giving it a natural sense of isolation from noise and crowds. The pebbly seabed and clear water make it well suited for swimming and basic snorkelling exploration. The beach has remained free of excessive commercialisation — no mass-market facilities or catering establishments, just a beach bar with a basic offer. That very degree of simplicity is the reason many visitors keep coming back.

Views of the Venetian fortress

From the Lučice cove, the Venetian fortress that dominates above Petrovac harbour is clearly visible. The fortress is one of the key cultural landmarks of this part of the Budva Riviera and provides a visual frame for the entire beach. The view is particularly striking in the late afternoon when the sun illuminates the stone walls. The combination of a sea swim with the presence of historic architecture in the field of vision makes Lučice a distinctive spot on the Montenegrin coast.

The coastal path to Petrovac

A short coastal path connecting Lučice with the centre of Petrovac runs alongside the sea and offers a direct visual connection with the Petrovac town beach. The path is only about ten minutes' walk and passes by the wooded headland that separates the two coves. This is also the most practical way to reach the beach without using a car. From the path, Katic island is also visible — one of the two small islets in the immediate vicinity of Petrovac.
